³⁴ Later on, the Amorites forced the descendants of Dan into the hill country and did not permit them to come into the valleys of the hills. ³⁵ Furthermore, the Amorites continued to inhabit Mount Heres in Aijalon and Shaalbim. Eventually, however, after the tribe^[a] of Joseph had become strong, the Amorites^[b] were subjected to conscripted labor. ³⁶ The Amorite border extended upward from the Akrabbim Ascent, that is, from Sela.
